NEW STUFF

Lately I've been passing the time racking Ward Beck mic pre-amps. They sound great and look pretty good too. The cabinet is poplar and the spacers are book-matched spalted maple. I sprayed about 20 coats of lacquer and finally rubbed the whole thing out starting with 800 grit paper and working my way out to 1200 grit, after which I hand rubbed it with rubbing compound and finally polishing compound. Finish is pretty glass-like. I built a separate 1U rack mount power supply, which connects via a 6 pin Neutrik XLR cable. Since most of these pictures were taken I've done assorted cleaning, adjusting, and fine tuning and everything works like a top.

The 490 modules have been modified for increased signal and output directly from the fader so the logic circuitry is bypassed. Great modification (Thank you Dave Thomas)!

Here are a few pictures:

Several similar racks in various configurations are in the works. Some I'll keep and others I'll sell to finance additional projects. I will selectively do custom work for clients as time permits.

OLD NEWS

The following is a list of people with whom I've played. Some are good friends, some are campfire mates, some are players with whom I've recorded, and some are just folks for whom I have opened shows. I'm sure I'm forgetting some of you. Sorry: if you drop me a note I'll be happy to add links as necessary. Most are (were) interesting players and you should visit their websites to learn more about them.
